The final countdown to the shutdown is NOW ON

The traditional PSTN network your business uses shuts down in January 2027.

In order to stay connected, you need to switch your phone and legacy broadband lines to a digital solution, ahead of the PSTN switch off and before you run out of time.

Businesses that wait too long to upgrade from the old copper lines face an inevitable surge in demand, service disruptions, connectivity failures, and emergency system outages that could put operations at risk.

We’re here to help your business get ahead of the competition, and the rush. And we’re here to keep you in control of your move to the reliable, futureproof technology your business deserves.

The PSTN switch off is happening now

The Public Switched Telephone Network - those copper phone lines installed in the 1800s - is being retired permanently. Openreach began phasing out traditional lines in 2023 and initiated a "stop-sell" of legacy services meaning providers are no longer offering new or replacement PSTN or ISDN services.

By January 2027, the shutdown will be complete. Every business still using PSTN must migrate to modern digital solutions like VoIP and IP broadband ahead of this point.

Without a digital replacement, critical systems will fail

The impact of this switch-off extends far beyond just traditional phone calls. Businesses need to be aware that a wide array of services and equipment currently relying on PSTN lines will cease to function. This includes:

  • Traditional landlines and older business phone systems

  • ADSL and FTTC broadband connections

  • Security systems like burglar, fire and lift alarms connected to PSTN lines

  • Legacy remote CCTV monitoring systems, building access controls, and emergency communication lines

  • EPOS systems connected to legacy lines

The impact of waiting

Delaying your migration creates serious operational and financial risks:

  • Complete loss of phone and broadband connectivity when PSTN services end
  • Business-critical systems going offline without warning, including security and emergency lines
  • Expensive emergency migrations as the deadline approaches and service providers become overwhelmed
  • Productivity losses and missed opportunities from outdated, inflexible technology
